Estimado Sr. Hickenlooper,

 

Me llamo Sally Burchett, y soy de Durango, Colorado. Escribo para compartir algunas opiniones sobre un asunto importante que se llama El Acto de Sueños. En mi

escuela hemos estado aprendiendo acerca de todos los aspectos del Acto de Sueños, y he llegado a la conclusión de que estoy a favor del acto. Llegué esta conclusión

mirando a ambos lados de la cuestión y decidir que los beneficios son muy superiores a las desventajas. 



Los jóvenes indocumentados que se beneficiarían del Acto de Sueños son víctimas de nuestro sistema migratorio. Son estadounidenses en todos los sentidos

menos en el documento oficial que lo compruebe. Viven igual que nosotros, y no fue su decisión de venir a los Estados Unidos. Respecto a inmigración, dado que este acto

sólo se aplicará a los jóvenes que ya están aquí, no va a alentar a más inmigrantes ilegales que vienen a los Estados Unidos desde México.

 

El Acto de Sueños beneficiaría nuestra economía. Estes estudiantes tendrían que pagar por los dos años de estudios universitarios que se requieren tomar, incluso

antes de conseguir su ciudadanía. Además, la aprobación del Acto de Sueños

beneficiaría a nuestras fuerzas armadas, y a la misma vez, a la seguridad de nuestro

país. Según Dave Gearhart, al rector de la Universidad de Arkansas en Little Rock, Joel

Anderson, y la senadora de Arkansas Joyce Elliot, “Seguiremos luchando para hacer

esto realidad para miles de jóvenes estudiantes talentosos y patrióticos que están

buscando la oportunidad de asistir a la universidad o ponerse al servicio de nuestro

país en las Fuerzas Armadas, pero que no pueden hacerlo, por motivos ajenos a ellos.

El Congreso tiene la oportunidad de ofrecerles a ellos y a nuestra nación un futuro más

brillante al aprobar de manera bipartidista la Ley DREAM.” Por mantenerlos fuera de la

calle y permitir los ser educados, estamos animando a que sean buenos ciudadanos y

estamos reduciendo su probabilidad de encontrar medios ilegales para sobrevivir.

 

Creo que el público general habrán apoya el Acto de Sueños porque va a

apoyar la diversidad en los líderes en todos los campos diferentes de trabajo en

nuestro país. Asimismo, aumentará la cantidad de diversidad en los estudiantes que

reciben su educación superior. Esto ayudará a hacer las experiencias de aprendizaje

más beneficiosas para todos, ya que estudiantes más diversos serán capaz de ofrecer

su experiencia y sabiduría.

 

En conclusión, creo que el acto debe ser aprobado para beneficiar a la

economía en débil, mejorar la diversidad en la educación y en la mano de obra, y

ayudar a dar una vida segura a los jóvenes que están luchando tan fuerte por ella.

Por qué elegí Hickenlooper:
Elegí el gobernador de Colorado porque quería ir tan lejos en la "cadena alimenticia" como pude sin salir del estado de Colorado. Quería presentar mis pensamientos a él de una manera que se espera pueda influir en su decisión, y, tal vez a cambio, el resto de la decisión del Estado.​

Dear Mr. Hickenlooper,



My name is Sally Burchett, and I am from Durango, Colorado. I write to share some of my opinions on an important issue called The Dream Act. In my school we have been learning about all of the aspects of the Dream Act, and I have come to the conclusion that I am in favor of the act. I reached this conclusion looking at both sides of the issue and deciding that the benefits greatly outweigh the disadvantages.



Undocumented youth who would benefit from the Dream Act are victims of our immigration system. They are American in every way except they don’t have the official document that proves this. They live like us, and it was not their decision to come to the United States. Regarding future immigration, as this act only applies to young people who are already here, it will not encourage more illegal immigrants to come to the United States from Mexico.

 



The Dream Act would benefit our economy. These students would to pay for the two years of college that they are required to take before getting their citizenship. In addition, approval of the Dream Act benefit our armed forces, and at the same time, the safety of our country. According to Dave Gearhart, the dean of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, Joel Anderson, and Senator Joyce Elliot of Arkansas, "It will continue to fight for this reality for thousands of young students who are talented and patriotic looking for the opportunity to attend college or be of service to our country in the armed forces, but can not, for reasons beyond them. Congress has the opportunity to offer them and our nation a more so bright to approve bipartisan DREAM Act." By keeping them out of the street and allowing them to be educated, we are encouraging them to be good citizens and we are reducing their chance of finding illegal means to survive.



I think the general public will support the Dream Act because it will support diversity in the leaders in all different fields of work our country. It will increase the amount of diversity in students who receive higher education. This will help make learning experiences more beneficial for everyone because of the diversity students can offer in their experience and wisdom.



In conclusion, I think the act should be adopted to benefit the weak economy, improve diversity in education and in the workforce, and help provide a secure life for young people who are fighting so hard for it.

Why I Chose Mr. Hickenlooper:​

I chose the governor of Colorado because I wanted to go as far up the "food chain" as I could without leaving the state of Colorado. I wanted to present my thoughts to him in a way that would hopefully influence his decision, and, perhaps in return, the rest of the state's decision.
